Responsibilities

Prepare creative tax planning and tax saving strategies, as well as coordinating with foreign tax laws to determine best tax strategies

Work closely with international affiliates preparing foreign jurisdiction returns for expatriates

Manage client relationships and coordinate preparation of US and foreign jurisdiction returns

Review U.S. individual income tax returns for inbound and outbound clients

Review and oversee preparation of US international tax compliance filings including, but not limited to Forms 1040, 1040NR, 3520-A, 3520, 8858, 8865, 5471, and TD F 90-22.1

Review tax equalization calculations and summaries

Lead pre and post departure meetings with the expatriates to orient them on what to expect in the tax process

Facilitate client understanding of international tax laws

Research and consult on complicated U.S. and international tax matters

Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax engagements

Work with partners on new business development, specifically growing the international tax practice

Participate in and contribute to marketing and business activities external to the firm, presenting a positive image of self and AKT
Qualifications
-
At least five years of tax experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm, preferably with at least three years focused on international expatriate taxation

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a J.D. from an accredited college/university

Knowledge of individual income tax issues and tax law including foreign national and expatriate issues, foreign tax compliance and the tax equalization process

Licensed CPA or attorney

Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment

Strong experience in staff and tax management in an integrated client service team

Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment

Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships

Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology
